To tap into Indian markets, Russian companies showcase cutting-edge tech for Indian stakeholders.
While India’s Smart Cities Mission for 100 cities chugs along slowly and steadily, Russia on Wednesday offered technological solutions envisaged at US $50 billion as part of the bilateral trade.
Discussions at the Russia-India Business Forum taking place in New Delhi revolved around the longstanding partners’ aim of increasing the share of trade between the two countries. This, in particular, focused on high-tech field convergence, including solutions for Smart Cities.
At the session ‘Smart Cities: India and Russia’s Shared Future’, Maria Bogomolova, Acting Chief Executive Officer, Moscow Innovation Agency, started by saying that Moscow is the best capital city for living. “There are a lot of challenges in current urban life. And those can be resolved by improving the status of life. We find solutions for the start-ups that work for infrastructure for the city’s improvement,” she stated.
Anagh Singh, Lead Defence, Cyber and Emerging Tech Specialist, AGNii Mission, Invest India, spoke about India’s ambitious Smart Cities Mission. He highlighted the financial outlays involved over the next few years and also pointed out how each of the cities was given the freedom to choose its own priority area.
Citing the example of his home city, Pune, Udayan Kanade, Member, Urban Transformation Committee, Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) and General Director CEO, Oneirix Labs, elaborated how it chose municipal garbage management, and how the Smart Cities Mission was on track even during the pandemic.
The discussions at the Russia-India Business Forum sessions are expected to help Russian companies fight the sanctions imposed by the West. Multiple Russian companies gave presentations about their products and services, all seeking to tap into Indian markets through bilateral trade.
Vladislav Ivanenko, General Director, SPUTNIX, said it can help India identify transportation violations, such as overload and heavy cargo. Meanwhile, Dmitriy Markov, General Director, VisionLabs, stated, “We can help with smart projects and smart solutions for a smart digitised city.”
Aleksandra Korchagina, Lead Specialist in the International Activities Department, Rusatom Infrastructure Solutions (online), said her company offers solution structures for Smart City platforms. “Our company can help in the management of buildings and facilities, for example, energy management of offices or other buildings,” she added.
Alexander Tomas, Communications Director, NtechLab, said his company specialises in video intelligence and facial recognition software for controlling crime. His demo used (photos/videos of) Indian actors, such as Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Vinod Khanna, Rishi Kapoor, and the flavour of the season, RRR stars Ram Charan and Jr NTR. The software immediately came up with popular songs associated with these actors, including the latest Oscar-winning track Naatu Naatu.
